How ThirdSectorBee supports Gift Aid declarations and claims.

Gift Aid is a UK tax relief scheme that allows charities to reclaim 25p for every £1 donated by a UK taxpayer. ThirdSectorBee helps you manage the two key components: declarations and claims.

Key concepts

Declaration — a donor’s confirmation that they are a UK taxpayer and consent to the charity claiming Gift Aid on their donations. Declarations can cover a single donation, all future donations, or all donations including past ones.

Claim — a submission to HMRC requesting repayment of the tax on qualifying donations. Each claim references specific payments.

Getting started with Gift Aid

  1. Collect a declaration from each eligible donor
  2. Record eligible donations as payments in the Relationships module (mark them as Gift Aid eligible)
  3. Create claims and submit them to HMRC

Dashboard

The Gift Aid dashboard (click Gift Aid in the sidebar) shows:

  • Total amount claimed
  • Total number of declarations
  • A breakdown of claims by status
  • A claims table filtered by tax year

Tax year selector

Use the tax year dropdown to filter the claims table to a specific UK tax year.
